Can you stay a parish councillor if your business goes into liquidation ?

The way you put the question suggests that the business is a separate legal entity from the council member. That is, it is a limited company. In that case, the liquidation of the business does not affect the status of the councillor.

If, however, the councillor is a sole trader and thus not separate from the business, then insolvency of the business would imply personal bankruptcy and on judgement of bankruptcy the councillor would become immediately disqualified.

Yes, they are/was a director of a company which went into liquidation owing 51000 pounds. Seen stupid than because he was a director its ok but as a sole trader it isn t
