Chairman and another councillor garnering support to stop development of a building

Question

Do these 2 parish councillors need to show  "an interest" in light of all the properties they have bought (8) in the village? Surely what is good for them is good for others. As a resident one can say what one feels about a development but these two wealthy developers just think its their chance to "dictate"

Seems a cheek to me to stop others renovating/developing this property and I feel very uncomfortable with it as do others.

Unfortunately, it's not unusual for people to do things that offend others. You are fully entitled to resist them and put an opposing view. The parish council must vote on how it wishes to respond from the statutory consultation from the planning authority. Individuals, whether councillors or not, are entitled to submit responses to a planning proposal. You'll probably appreciate that their effectiveness will depend on the extent to which they put forward points that are relevant planning considerations.
