Setting up a Youth Council

As part of our post covid regeneration we have formed a Community Hub bringing together many of the voluntary groups in the village. There is a shared view that teenagers in the village have been hit particularly hard and we would like to set up a Youth Council to provide them with a forum.

I would be interested to hear of any experiences fellow Parishes have had.

Is it a subgroup of the Parish Council you are proposing, or a standalone body guided by the parish Council?

If it leads to  youngsters eventually seeking election to the Parish Council it could be a good thing but kids get interested in other things and  go to UNi etc so maintaining a headcount might not be easy. My town Council tried it but how it will function post Covid 19 restrictions remains to be seen.
