We are looking at ways of not using personal email addresses, we are a small PC with limited tech knowledge and funds. Can anyone recommend a service provider, or point me in the direction of how to set this up ourselves?

If you use yahoo or gmail, you can just create email addresses for free on these - something like *cllr.j.bloggs @ yahoo

If you wanted the .gov.uk email address, you need to obtain permission from the government and your domain company should be able to assist with that.

If your council has a website the provider can normally set up email addresses quite quickly and normally at very little cost

Would agree with clerk gable in that the website provider can set up whatever mailboxes and mail diversions that you can possibly need and at a price you should be able to negotiate quite cheaply as their hosting supplier will not charge them extra for mailbox. All the email addresses can be referenced to clerk chair vice chair or x councillor and  tailored to be diverted to councillors private email address as well if needed. More flexible and cheaper way of having a tailored email system

No PC should be using private email addresses as it’s causes a nightmare for GDPR purpose

Do your Councillors realise that the emails can be subject to Freedom of Information requests

This is exactly why I am asking this question, our clerk has just completed her Gdpr training and asked me to look into this.
