With no current chairman,and with no vice chair, can a parish council elect an acting chairman till the role is filled?

Our current chairperson has just resigned through ill health,our vice chair resigned a month ago through matrimonial issues,we have six vacancies for councillors, none of the current councillors want the chair or vice chair roles permanently, can the council elect an acting chairman from within the councillors, till the role is filled, or does a chair for each meeting have to be elected, I look forward to some advice,many thanks, kind regards,  Doug Seymour MBE

With six vacancies, is the Parish still quorate? If it isn't then the clerk needs to inform the district council.

If the Parish is still quorate then you can elect a chair on a meeting by meeting basis, however a councillor must chair the election process (it must not be the clerk).
