Can a Local Councillor be a employee of a parish council

We have a lovely newly elected Local Councillor.  His job means he works as an employee for the Parish council but not involved in parish council decisions.

No. He needs to resign from one or other.

You cannot be an employee of the authority which you are the councillor for.

The law:

Section 80, Local Government Act 1972. He is disqualified from being a councillor as an employee.

The councillor is not a councillor for the local town council for which they work for,  He is a District Councillor.  Everything was vetted before going ahead to stand.  So can a District Councillor still be a District Councillor although he works for the local Town Council as a General Maintenance person and is not part of the council board.
