Our neighbouring Town Council seem to be successful in obtaining numerous grant awards to improve or boost projects including replacement Noticeboards. It is quite trying to convince our elder Councillors that many of these grants could be applied for, but they are sceptical and not keen. What are your award successes and where is the best place to find out current funding streams please?

As far as I'm aware, there is a cost for using Grantfinder.  There are other free alternatives, such as the NCVO Funding Central database, which is free for organisations with a turnover below £100,000.

The Lottery is an easy source for sums up to £10,000, as well as specific pots for arts, heritage, sports etc.  There are also many local funds, such as old charities, wind farms and power stations.  District and county councils often provide grants for specific purposes.  The best place to find out what's available in your area is your local voluntary service council or ACRE network member.

We have obtained funds for a disabled car park, defibrillators, an environmental scheme, village hall improvements, highway improvements, parish plan survey, a litter picking scheme, flower planters etc.  There's plenty of money out there and most of it is quite easy to access.
