Last year the clerk of my parish council failed to post the above notice for the previous years account. She says the notice was posted on the noticeboard but not of the website even though it is a legal requirement for it to be displayed in both places.

I wrote to the external auditor about this who instructed them that this must be done correctly this year.

My question is what happens if they don't?

I have already asked to know the dates and location of when & where I can view the accounts, as has another resident, but we have both received similar replies that they will publish dates & location when they have decided. There is a common period where all parish councils must have their accounts available which as the first 10 working days of July.

I don't want to miss this opportunity but the parish council aren't making it easy!

They've now also fixed the two days and times when they can be viewed!

"Further to your email below I can confirm that councillors have agreed that the accounts will be available in the Church at 7.30 PM on Wednesday 20th June and at 7.00 PM on Monday 16th July."

I thought the regs said

"Any person interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the accounting records for the financial year to which the audit relates and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers, receipts and other documents relating to those records must be made available for inspection by any person interested. For the year ended 31 March 2018, these documents will be available on reasonable notice by application to the Clerk: "

you are right, it is a period for inspection - perhaps they mistyped their reply?
Unfortunately not. They've now withdrawn the Notice and cancelled the two drop-in sessions so they can consider what to do next!
