How can we create a new parish council in our area?

We would like to look into how we could create a new parish council in our area. We are currently under Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Who totally disregard our Community so we are looking how to set up a new parish council

I believe that you have to apply to government to start the process and your MP should be a good contact, so should contacting Eric Pickles MP office, local communities.

 

You might have to hold a local referendum and require a 51% vote for it.

Beware that even if you are succesful, you don't end up duplicating services at an additional cost to residents.

You need to collect a petition signed by at least 7.5% of Local Electors calling on the Principle Authority to set up a governance review to consider establishing a town or Parish Council.
