clerk of the year

Can anyone tell me how clerk of the year is decided, i have just looked on a website to see that it isn't announced till November, thought my council decided to give our clerk a sash with clerk of the year before the meeting started. Is there more than one organization who decides on this, and is it only councillors who can vote on it? I have emailed an organization that appears to be the one that gives out clerk of the year who's site says it would be announced in November to see if there was other organizations who do this. My main concern is that our clerk doesn't seem to have put up specific policies, and doesn't seem to keep to the transparency code. They seem to use the council to praise themselves, yet when we try to give feedback that they don't like they shut it down.

Take your pick! The NALC runs the Star Council Awards, including Clerk of the Year, to be announced in February 2025. The SLCC Annual Awards include a Heart of the Community category, as well as New Clerk of the Year, announced at their annual conference last week. My local Association runs its own scheme, including Clerk of the Year and New Clerk of the Year, to be announced at their AGM later this month. I have no experience of the first two options, but the local award is not considered prestigious, as nobody bothers to apply!
