Hello, I'm a Town Councillor seeking re-election in May. I'm also part of a volunteer-run/not-for-profit community cinema which show films in our town. Once a month, myself and a cinema colleague appear on a local radio segment talking about what's coming up at our cinema. My name is mentioned, but at no point is my separate role as a councillor referenced, and there is no content in the discussion which could be deemed controversial / politically motivated or in any way connected with the Town Council. Is it reasonable to still take part in the one session which takes place during purdah ?

Purdah rules apply to the council, not to individual councillors acting in their individual capacity.

As long as you are not using any council resources you can publicise yourself all you like. Think about it - how can you get yourself elected if you don't let people know you exist.

The only potential issue i could see is if the council provides any funding for this not-for-profit cinema.

Yes it is reasonable.  Purdah rules exist to limit councils making decisions or acting in a way that could be seen to be electorally advantageous to a particular political party.  They are most appropriate to County, District & Borough Councils a.k.a. principal authorities.  Since Town & Parish Councils have far less decision making capacity & powers than principal authorities, Purdah is not as important in their context as is the case for principal authorities.
