I was once a parish councilor but resigned due to a childs accident on a skate ramp the council had received a Do not use certificate on that no councilor had seen apart from the clerk and chairman. Only way I could get it replaced was to threaten the council with newspaper coverage. Two days after it appeared in newspapers the ramp was closed down and three months later a new ond appeared. I have since tried to be co elected back onto the council but refused everytime. Councilors have changed many times since I were on so cannot see why they do not vote in an experienced person. The advert shown asking for candidates shows as follows 'we do notnecessarally require experienced people to apply'..well it wasinexperience that caused a childs accident because if they had been, they would havd looked up on certifications of certain childrens and adults equipment. The same clerk was on when I resigned and feel she is behind why I am not voted back on. Ihave contacted the District council who say Imust contact the clerk, but is this not simply complaining to the owner of the dog that bit you??..I feel this clerk advises councilors on what she wants done opposed to the parishioners.

The next time there is a casual vacancy, get 9 other electors and yourself to request a by-election and then stand.  It will cost the council money but that is the price of democracy.

The simple solution is to just stand at the next scheduled election... I knew I had about as much chance of been co-opted when I first joined at the Labrador down the street... In meen time watch, observe and prepare... Build an audience (film the meetings, run a page etc)
