who sets the date for a requested parish meeting

We have some parishioners who recently requested a parish meeting on a particular issue.
Who legally sets the date please?
Despite agreeing to consult the residents who requested the meeting, the parish council has gone ahead and set their own date which is far from suitable for the parishioners.

Furthermore they have found out the date and time through a link on their facebook page to the councils website.

Is all this above board? What is the legal position please?

The legislation is contained in Schedule 12 paragraphs 14 and 15 of the Local Government Act 1972. Whoever has called the meeting must publish a notice and agenda at least seven days before the meeting. If the meeting has been called by six electors, they should each sign the notice.
