We have recently gone through a co-option round and one of the applicants failed to turned up but was formally accepted as there were insufficient candidates .  They were of course unable to sign their acceptance form and it was suggested that this be done at the next FC meeting.  But can it be signed independently ie in the presence of the clerk in her office. Also are then rules about attending your co-option meeting as personally I would have liked to ask him some questions

The acceptance form may be signed anywhere, at any time, as long as it is in the presence of the Clerk or any two members of the Council. See LGA Section 83(3). You may co-opt somebody in their absence unless your Council has a co-options policy that says you can't.
