On the 4 April we noted draft minutes of the planning and finance meeting held on the 21 March

We have a planning and finance meeting on the 18 April on the agenda is to approve the minutes of the planning and finance meeting held on the 21 March I have noticed that the minutes noted on the 4 April have been changed a new sentence has been added by the clerk with out asking or notifying the council is she allowed to do this

Well prior to approval its perfectly reasonable for an officer to correct draft notes/minutes prior to presenting them for approval. Out of interest does the additional sentence represent a substantive change to a recorded decision? Is the sentence accurate? Prior to approval you should have the opportunity to raise concerns with your colleagues prior to the vote.

If I had the choice I’d record all meetings, make them available on line and produce minutes with just the decisions recorded and the time it was made, for transparency I’d also record who voted and which way they voted as it’s quite amazing with the benefit of hindsight how often Councillors claim they voted differently than they did on the day
