Good afternoon

my question is Special safety matting in our village playground - which we all know is very expensive
Should this expensive matting be included on our Asset register ?

we have it on our asset register as that is considered within our insurance policy - it is expensive stuff to repair after vandalism.

Mrs Abster as usual right on the money. You will of course need to take into account whether the insurance covers vandalism on items but also maintenance and day to day wear and tear and replacement due to changing requirements on health and safety. Of course a good council will have repair and maintenance costs covered in the budget with an amount built up and ring fenced to meet replacement at the end of life of the asset.
