I ought to know this - but don't.  I have been a Parish Councillor for around 10 years and a Chair for 8 so this seems like a daft question. In May we will be re-electing the Parish Council - do we have to advertise that fact and ask for any nominations from non-councillors and those who wish to stand again?  Does this take place at the annual parish meeting or the AGM? There's no such thing as a daft question!  I've no doubt someone else is unclear about the same thing.

This is all handled by your principal authority who will issue nomination packs, all statutory notices etc.  As a parish council you have no involvement in the process but many parishes do attempt to encourage participation, both in terms of encouraging local people to vote and encouraging candidates to put themselves forward.
