Disciplinary committee

Question

Our grievance and disciplinary committee comprises of maximum of 5 plus the chair of the full council For a case hearing 3 members will be selected including the chair. Who picks the two members

The answer should be in your Standing Orders if it isn’t basically anything goes

Common sense would indicate the 5 members should select the panel
I assume your Council is aware the Committee has no remit over Councillors ?

The committee selects the members of a panel (any panel) to act on behalf of the committee after considering (first and foremost) if there are any volunteers - don’t lose sight of the fact that nobody can be ‘pressed’ into anything, if there are any conflicts and also if there are any notable skills or experience in the relevant area.
The clerk takes the notes of the committees decision.
