Recently changed clerks, last clerks renumeration was always shown, but now shown as an outgoing with no figures applied.

Unless the Clerk earns over £50000, there is no requirement to publish their salary.  Most councils will publish a total amount for wages (including NI, pension etc) in their financial statements in order to give the clerk an element of privacy in their employment details.

My council publishes a global figure for gross salary for all staff each month but that's a bit pointless if you've only one member of staff, however.  I have a clerk friend who always puts her salary on the payments list as, in her words, at least people might feel sorry for her!  Staff costs are, of course, shown as a separate figure on the Annual Governance and Accounting Return so its hardly a secret but net figures etc. should been private in my view.
