May I ask a question of any clerks who are a member of SLCC. If you have to attend any area meetings do you do so in your own time or during your work hours?

Depends when it is...?  For me they tend to fall during my working hours and so I attend them as part of my work.  My council views them as the CPD work.

I'm no longer a clerk but when I was my council considered this to be part of my professional development and therefore could be considered part of my work.  We have a similar view in my current council and the clerk attends training and branch meetings as part of her working hours.   The same applies to meetings/training sessions offered by our local county office of NALC and any training etc. held by our district council.
