As some of you will know my  village has recently gone through a troublesome period regarding the management of our Community Centre.  It has been a sad and sorry saga.   However after nearly two years new trustees have been appointed (of which I am one) and we are going through the pains of sorting out whats what . Its a mess.   However our new regime are going to have to find ways of increasing revenue if only to reduce our dependence on the PC.   While I am trying to devise an innovative gift aidable lottery scheme have  any of readers in a similar situation introduced any  new innovative revenue streams as ultimately most of this will come from the community.

Meanwhile a list of any grant giving schemes would be useful.  Time for some blue sky thinking  I think

A lot will depend on what facilities your community centre has or wants. There may be problems with size or lack of facilities which restrict what fundraising you can do or the desirability of the community to hire it for their events.

Check with your local county council and charities for funding that may be available for improvements or modernisation and promotion of local facilities. There is also of course the Parish council which can make such grants to you. Our hall was turned into a hub for use by the community to access computers and printing facilities and a home to our local heritage and history group and an outreach post office when the local shop closed.

To be self sustaining which I feel is your aim you need to make the hall attractive to the community to use and nurture as theirs.
