We have a new Clerk /RFO who is progressing at great speed and very enthusiastic. She is about to take the ILCA course, which we have agreed she can take during work hours.  After she has completed her year as clerk she then wants to start the CILCA course.  Can I please ask any CILCA qualified clerks if you took the course in your own time, work time or a mixture of both?

The CiLCA qualification should be taken as a mix of personal time and work time.  The guidance is that 70% of the time taken should be paid work time as the qualification requires policies and work that have been created for the council to be submitted as evidence.

Do you mind me asking who has issued this 70/30 guidance?
It's in the CiLCA portfolio guide that is given to everyone studying for the qualification.
Thank you for the information.
Thank you Mrs. Abster.  Very helpful.
