A candidate does not live in the parish, does not work full time in the parish, is not a tenant of any land in the parish, but, does have a business lease on a building in the parish. Does that qualify him to be considered for co - option on to the council ?  Many thanks.

Though the candidate does not live in the parish, does (s)he live within 3 miles of the parish boundary?

Hi Samuel, no he doesn't live within 3 miles of the parish boundary, many thanks for your response.
Also, the official wording on tenancy qualifying to become a parish councillor without actually living within the Parish our within 3 miles of its boundary is:
..........................................................................................................................
You have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises in the parish/community area during the whole of the 12 months before the day of your nomination.
..........................................................................................................................

Your wording of the question also indicate the candidate may have worked in the parish in which case you may need to also consider:
............................................................................................................................
Your main or only place of work during the 12 months prior to the day of your nomination and the day of election has been in the parish/community area.
Hi James, many thanks for responding, stay safe.

Hi yes, this is fine as they have an interest in your community. They have a link with their business lease and in loose terms puts back into your community so is a valid candidate for co-option.
