Our clerk claims for mileage at the top rate of 68p per mile.

She works as a deputy for another council and clerk for us.

Her expenses last month was over £450.

This includes £30 each time she a visits our village; even to our council agenda in a notice board, and a visit to sort out banking was £50 round trip.

I have concerns about theses costs.

Where is her normal place of work in her contract? She shouldn't be paid mileage to attend her normal place of work unless it's in her contract.

For a start, one of the councillors could easily put the agenda on a noticeboard - that would save you £30 each time...

Also, where are they getting 68p per mile from?  I thought the HMRC rate was 45p...
